well ,instead of a fit of decompiling and modifying ,and generally doing things the hard way ,one of my partners in crime 'simply4rElaxation';),has suggested ,hey , why not just do a whole new software starting from scratch !!!er , um ,well ,because im totally incompetant ? notwithstanding this ,sophie asked me ,what would i like in my software .resisting the customary douoooooble entende , i said hmmm ... 2 boosts, 2 temps ,rpm, bhp, (torque can be derived from bhp and rpm ) then i had another think and realized , that ,once again , im thinking too small .if there are 16 channels on my ad board ,and genarally on most boards available at least 16 ,then why not use them ? so i wondered if a add on type of function would work ,where a channel can sit there unused ,and then be allocated a sensor and calibrated in the program ? one other part of a program needs to be ,a function where one can link the speed of the rollers to a rpm of the engine , in the program . eg in my old software , it was hold engine at 60 mph ,and put the rpm in a box on the screen ,this tells the softw whats what . also ,the sw has to know when to start the run ,in my old sw you pressed a button to start the run ,and it would start recording once the bhp got over a very low level .it would then continue to take a measurement until it got to below that level .in this case , the dyno measures power on the way up the rev range ,then you put the car in neutral ,and let it coast down ,and it takes a continuous measurement of the losses in the transmission,and adds these to the power up run ,to give total power at the flywheel . so this isnt a woo hoo look what ive achieved post , its a current thinking sort of a post kind of thingy. regards robert
